CAF CL: Medeama handed ‘tough’ draw alongside Al Ahly, others

Medeama SC, the champions of Ghana, are set to face formidable competition in their debut group stage campaign in the CAF Champions League, as determined by the draw held in Johannesburg on Friday.
In Group D, the Yellow and Mauves have been placed alongside the defending champions and record-winners, Al Ahly SC, as well as the Algerian champions CR Belouizdad. Completing the quartet is Young Africans SC, the Tanzanian champions, who were finalists in the CAF Confederation Cup last season.
The draw ceremony occurred at the studios of Supersport TV in the South African capital. A total of 16 winners from the second round of qualifying rounds were drawn into four groups of four teams each. The top two teams in each group will progress to the quarter-final stage.
The group stage matches of Africa’s premier club competition are scheduled to kick off on Friday, November 25, 2023, and will run until Friday, March 1, 2024.
