CAF Champions League: Medeama edge Remo Stars on penalties to advance to second round
1 min readIn the CAF Champions League encounter, Remo Stars Sports Club from Nigeria clashed with Medeama, resulting in a 1-0 victory in favor of the home team after 90 minutes on Sunday.
However, the Ghanaian champions managed to secure a 3-2 triumph in the penalty shootout against their adversaries.
The second leg of the First Round fixture unfolded at the Remo Stars stadium. The decisive moment arrived in the 73rd minute when an own goal put the home team in the lead.
Although Remo Stars found the net once again during stoppage time, fortune favored the Ghanaian champions as the effort was disallowed due to an offside decision.
With the tie culminating in a 1-1 draw, the need for penalty shootouts arose to determine the victor between the two contenders. Ultimately, it was the Yellow and Mauves who emerged victorious.
Looking ahead, Medeama’s path now leads them to a meeting with Horoya AC from Guinea in the second and final qualification round of the tournament.
