Blame NPP and NDC for Black Stars trophy drought – Mubarak Wakaso
1 min readGhana midfielder, Mubarak Wakaso has revealed that party politics have ruined Ghana’s chances of winning a trophy, particularly the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Afcon trophy has eluded Ghana’s male senior national team for 38 years despite winning it on four occasions.
The Black Stars came close to lifting the trophy in 2010 and 2015. They won silver medal in both editions to Egypt and Ivory Coast respectively.
Speaking in an interview with Angel TV, Wakaso indicated that the New Patriotic Party and National Democratic Congress are to be blamed for the Black Stars recent struggle to win interview glory.
“I will speak the truth today. Do you know our problem about the game,”he asked.
“Maybe we know but we don’t want to say it. But I think politics ruins the Blacks Stars at times. When NDC is in power, NPP doesn’t want us to win and vice versa.”
“We have to support the team with unity like how we are fighting this virus and take politics out. Me, for instance, I don’t care about NDC or NPP because I haven’t voted before,” he added.
