Ashgold in contract extension talks with two key players
1 min readGhana Premier League side Ashanti Gold are in talks with two of their key players in a bid to renew their respective contracts.
Giving updates on the happenings at the Miners camp, the Chief Executive Officer of the club, Emmanuel Frimpong disclosed that, the hierarchy is also in the process of welcoming new players into the team.
He indicated that they are working on the contract extension for midfielders Latif Anabila and James Akaminko.
The revelation could end Asante Kotoko’s pursuit for Latif Anabila – who had publicly declared his desire to join the Porcupine Warriors.
In an interview with Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM, Frimpong stated the Obuasi-based club is ready to compete in Africa and would do their best to augment the squad.
“We have new players coming on board, with Latif, James Akaminko and the likes, we are trying to renew their contracts, talks are still ongoing,” he told Kumasi-based Oyerepa 100.7FM.
Ashgold has been given the green light to represent Ghana in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup. Since the announcement, many have questioned the readiness of the Miners.
But the latest update is expected to strengthen the squad level of the club.
