Asante Kotoko supporters group KUM APEM to raise Funds to support ailing ex-players of the club
2 min readVibrant Asante Kotoko supporters wing ‘KUM APEM GROUP’ known for heartwarming gestures towards players, officials and fans are at it again as they aim to raise funds to assist former players of the Reds.
This effort is aimed at offering financial assistance to former players of the club who contributed immensely to the success of the club and need help at the moment.
This project is expected to raise GHc20,000 to support ten individuals who have sacrificed for the club in the past namely, Winsdor Kofi Abbrey, Abubakar Gariba, Dogo Moro, Kweku Minka, Omono Asamoah, Agyemang Duah, Kweku Ofori, Prince Adu-Poku, Julius Agyabeng who has been paralyzed for the last 7 years as well as Nana Berchie who was behind the steer when Kotoko’s team bus had an accident in 2017.- Advertisement –
However, as of Tuesday, July 7, 2020, a total of Ghc8000 had been raised for the fund, according to Mr George Forson (Big Joe) who is an official of the group in an interview with Kumasi-based Angel FM.
Now is the time more than ever to support the amazing work Kum Apem Group is doing for the former players and are hoping supporters and corporate bodies will jump on-board with their fundraising efforts.

Meanwhile, last month, Kum Apem Group extended towards a dyed-in-the-wool fan Kwame Arhin who laid his life for Asante Kotoko during a CAF interclub game with Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosa in 1992 at the Baba Yara Stadium after 28 years.- Advertisement –
The members of the page after coming across a documentary of Kwame Arhin done by Kwaku Osei TV calling on the club and its supporters to come o his aid touched the hearts of the Kum Apem group members. However, within a spate of a week, the group were able to raise over GHc5,000 which they used a portion of it to purchase items requested by the man.
Items donated include foodstuffs, toiletries, brand new wheelchair, mattress, radio, etc which worth GHc4,000 plus a cash component of Ghc2,000 and a customized Asante Kotoko jersey from Strike Ghana at his residence at Atonsu Feyiase in Kumasi.
The WhatsApp group was founded by Prince Osei Agyekum (Hon Prince) former sports presenter of Kumasi-based Nhyira FM who now lives in the United Kingdom.
