Asante Kotoko coach Maxwell Konadu reveals players leaving the club
2 min readAsante Kotoko head coach, Maxwell Konadu has confirmed that the Technical Team will cut 10 players from the squad size ahead of the 2020/2021 season.
According to the former Black Stars B gaffer, the Porcupine Warriors currently have 38 players at their disposal and will offload some of them as the club has pencilled down a number of new signings.
Maxwell Konadu is expected to augment his squad ahead of the new season, having been given the nod to represent Ghana in the 2020/21 CAF Champions League. While some first-team players are expected to be out of the team, others have been line up to replace them.
Speaking to Oyerepa FM, Konadu noted that the hierarchy is not happy with the squad number and will trim off.
“Kotoko has 38 players so there’s no need adding up the number, definitely we will let some go. Even the management is not happy paying salaries of 38 players, it’s too much.
“Kotoko currently has 38 players including those who were sent on loan last season but we will reduce the squad to 28.”
The Ghana Premier League record winners are unable to sign new players due to the transfer ban placed on new signings by Manhyia.
However, reports in the local media suggest the restrictions on acquiring new players have been eased, paving way for a few recruitments.
Currently, Justice Blay, Mathew Anim Cudjoe, Emmanuel Keyekeh, Shafiu Mumuni, Latif Anabila among others are reported to be joining Kotoko if the discussion goes as planned.
